Speedmetal Milled Bar Ends: Sizes, Fit and 9 Alternatives

Speedmetal Milled Bar Ends come in two lengths, Short at 15mm and Long at 35mm, and each set ships with two rubber inserts: a 13mm insert for aluminum handlebars and an 18mm insert for steel ones. Both styles are listed in black. RevZilla and Cycle Gear sell them under the same part numbers.

What the Speedmetal listings say

Speedmetal Milled Bar Ends are sold as a pair. RevZilla says they look better than most factory bar ends and that the milled shape gives more protection in a parking-lot tip-over. Cycle Gear describes the job more narrowly: they help protect the grip, the handlebar and the throttle tube when the bike falls on its side.

Style Length (mm) Manufacturer product no. Retailer item no.
Black / Short 15 BEC-05 1127910
Black / Long 35 BEC-14 1127909

Neither retailer page gives the material, the weight or a handlebar outside diameter. Neither claims any vibration benefit. I would treat these as end plugs with some crash protection, not as bar-end weights. If you want a weight figure, the Puig listing further down is the one that gives grams.

The protection claims are retailer descriptions. Neither page shows a drop test or gives a speed or impact rating, so a low-speed tip-over is the scenario they describe.

Checking fit before you order

The Speedmetal set handles two cases through its inserts. Aluminum bars take the 13mm insert. Steel bars take the 18mm insert. Check which metal your bars are before you pick, and check that the end of your bar is open and free of an existing weight or plug.

Other makers publish fit ranges in different ways, so compare them carefully:

  • Rizoma lists adapters for most 13mm to 20mm handlebars.
  • Highsider lists most 7/8″ and 1″ handlebars.
  • Woodcraft lists its own bars and bars with a 5/8″ inner diameter.
  • Puig lists two lengths, 20mm and 40mm, but the source does not give a bore size.

Where a listing is vague, ask the seller for the inner diameter range before ordering. A related note for riders still sorting out their kit: our beginner motorcycle gear checklist covers what to buy before small parts like these.

Nine other bar ends to compare

Rizoma Series 533, 302 and 532

Rizoma makes three models in this group. All three are listed as billet aluminum with an anodized finish, sold in pairs, with adapters for most 13mm to 20mm bars. The Series 533 pairs the anodized body with a black end cap. The Series 302 has a classic conical shape. The Series 532 is also conical and carries anodized accents. Choose between them on looks.

Highsider Curve

The Highsider Curve Bar Ends are aluminum and fit most 7/8″ and 1″ handlebars. They work with all Highsider bar-end mirrors, which matters if you plan to add mirrors later.

Driven Racing SS

The Driven Racing SS Bar End has a three-piece 6061 billet aluminum center section capped with stainless steel ends. The listing says it is 40% heavier than the standard Driven bar end, is laser-etched with the Driven SS logo and uses concealed hardware. Driven says it is designed to reduce vibration and arm pump.

Woodcraft Bar End Sliders

The Woodcraft Bar End Sliders fit Woodcraft bars and bars with a 5/8″ inner diameter. The puck mount follows Woodcraft’s patented frame slider design. The bolt sits perpendicular to the puck, so after a crash you do not have to dig plastic out of the puck, which makes replacement easier. The weight is spread evenly to reduce handlebar vibration. They are sold in pairs.

Evotech Performance

The Evotech Performance Bar Ends are a direct replacement for factory bar-end weights. They are CNC machined from stainless steel, which resists corrosion, and all installation hardware is included. The listing says the weight helps with vibration at certain engine speeds and that the ends protect handlebars, levers and fairings from abrasion and impact. Logos are engraved.

Puig

The Puig Bar Ends are CNC-machined billet aluminum with a corrosion-resistant anodized finish. A beveled edge is meant to spread the load in a crash, and the design is laser etched. Short ends are 20mm long and weigh 36 grams. Long ends are 40mm and weigh 68 grams. They are sold in pairs.

LighTech Modular Series

The LighTech Modular Series Bar Ends are anodized aluminum, sold in pairs. Each end has a laser-engraved color ring and matching hardware. LighTech says they are designed to protect the upper fairing and levers in a tip-over.

We have not tested any of these. Everything above comes from the maker or retailer listings, and each “n/a” means the listing gives no figure. For a wider shortlist, see our other roundup of the best motorcycle bar ends.

Plugs, weights and sliders: what each one does

A bar-end plug closes the tube and gives the bar a finished look. A bar-end weight adds mass at the tip of the bar. Per the older guidance on this page, extra mass at the bar end can change how the bar vibrates, and Evotech says its weights help at certain engine speeds. A bar-end slider is a crash part, like Woodcraft’s puck, built to take the ground instead of the lever or grip.

Many products mix these jobs. Puig’s beveled edge is a crash feature on a machined end. Driven’s added weight is aimed at vibration. The Speedmetal listings talk only about crash protection and looks, so choose by the job you want done.

Vibration reaches a rider through the seat, the footpegs and the handlebars. A bar end only addresses the handlebars. If you feel buzz mainly through your feet or seat, a different fix is needed.

Questions riders ask

Do Speedmetal milled bar ends reduce vibration?

The RevZilla and Cycle Gear pages do not say so. They describe looks and protection. Pick a listing that states a weight or a vibration purpose if that is your goal.

Which Speedmetal size should I choose?

The listings give 15mm for Short and 35mm for Long, and give no guidance on which to choose beyond that. The Long end sticks out further, so it covers more of the bar tip. The Short end sits closer to the grip.

Can I fit Speedmetal ends on steel bars?

Yes, per both retailers. The box includes an 18mm insert for steel bars and a 13mm insert for aluminum bars.

Are Puig bar ends sold singly?

The listing says Puig bar ends are sold in pairs. The same goes for the Rizoma, Woodcraft and LighTech sets above.
